January 1- BLESSED VIRGIN MARY, MOTHER of GOD [Solemnity] Numbers 6:22-27; Psalm 67:2-3, 5-6, 8; 2nd reading - Galatians 4:4-7; Gospel Luke 2:16-21  Mary pondered her role as Mother of God, [Lk 2:19] and our mother by adoption [Gal 4:4-7] and joins us as we praise God [Ps 67:8] and ask His blessing [Num 6:24-27] For more see Saints Calendar 

January 4 - The EPIPHANY of the LORD [Solemnity]  By ancient custom for this solemnity, formerly celebrated on January 6, the dates of the movable feasts for the coming year may be solemnly proclaimed  and calendars blessed and distributed.  1st reading - Isaiah 60:1-6; Psalm 72:2, 7-8, 10-13; 2nd reading Ephesians 3:2-3, 5-6; Gospel Matthew 2:1-12.   The Lord, revealed to the Jews through the shepherds is now revealed to the Gentiles through the Magi [Mt 2:1-2] as foretold in Scripture [Is 60:3, Ps 72:11] and celebrated by Saint Paul [Eph 3:6]  For more see web link 
January 11 - The Baptism of the Lord [Feast] concludes the Christmas season.  [This feast always supplants the First Sunday of Ordinary Time. Ordinary time begins tomorrow.]  1st reading Isaiah 55:1-11; [Psalm] Isaiah 12:2-6; 2nd reading 1 John 5:1-9; Gospel Mark 1:7-11.  Jesus is the beloved Son of the Father [Mk 1:11] The voice of God over the waters [Ps 29:3-4] proclaims Him the promised [Is 55:1] One, Who brings us salvation not only with water but with His blood [1 Jn 5:6] for more see web link

 ORDINARY TIME I

January 18 - 2nd Sunday in Ordinary Time. 1st reading 1 Samuel 3:3-10, 19; Psalm 40:2, 4, 7-10; 2nd reading 1 Corinthians 6:13-15, 17-20; Gospel John 1:35-42.  Jesus calls us [Jn 1:39].  He has joined us to Him in Baptism [1 Cor 6:17].  When He speaks do we listen [1 Sam 3:9]; do we respond [Ps 40:7]?  

January 25- 3rd  Sunday in Ordinary Time. 1st reading Jonah 3:1-5, 10: Psalm 25:4-9; 2nd reading 1 Corinthians 7:29-31; Gospel Mark 1:14-20.  Jesus call us to repent and believe [Mk 1:15].  The Ninevites repented at Jonah’s call [Jon 3:5] and experienced the Lord’s compassion [Ps 25:6].  Do we make good use of the time allotted to us to repent
 [1 Cor 7:29]?
