 January 1- BLESSED VIRGIN MARY, MOTHER of GOD [Solemnity]  1st reading Numbers 6:22-27; Psalm 67:2-3, 5-6, 8; 2nd reading Galatians 4:4-7 ; Gospel Luke 2:16-21. Let us join with Mary as she reflects on these things in her heart [Lk 2:18-19]: The nations exult [Ps 67:5-6]for the Lord blesses them [Num 6:24-26] God‘s Son, born of woman, rescues us [Gal 4:4-7]

January 3- The EPIPHANY of the LORD [Solemnity] By ancient custom for this solemnity, formerly celebrated on January 6, the dates of the movable feasts for the coming year may be solemnly proclaimed and calendars blessed and distributed.  1st reading Isaiah 60:1-6; Psalm 72:1-2, 7-8, 10-13; 2nd reading Ephesians 3:2-3, 5-6 ; Gospel Matthew 2:1-12. The Lord, revealed to the Jews through the shepherds is now revealed to the Gentiles through the Magi [Mt 2:1-2] as foretold in Scripture [Is 60:3, Ps 72:11] and celebrated by Saint Paul [Eph 3:6]For more see web link 

January 10 The Baptism of the Lord [Feast] concludes the Christmas season. [Ordinary time begins tomorrow.]-1st reading Isaiah 40:1-5, 9-11; Psalm 104:1-4, 24-25, 27-30; 2nd reading Titus 2:11-14, 3:4-7; Gospel Luke 3:15-16, 21-22.  Jesus comes  baptizing with the Holy Spirit [Lk 3:16] bringing the salvation promised of old [Is 40:10:11] renewing the face of the earth [Ps 104:30].  So will He come again in glory [Ti 2:13]For more see web link

ORDINARY TIME  

January 17   2nd Sunday in Ordinary Time1st reading -Isaiah 62:1-5; Psalm 96:1-3, 7-10; 2nd reading 1 Corinthians 12:4-11; Gospel John 2:1-11.  The Glory of God is revealed in Jesus by the miracle at Cana [Jn 2:11-12]  The salvation foretold of old [Is 62:1 & Ps 96:3] is with us now in the Gifts of the Spirit [1 Cor 12:4-11]

January 24 3rd  Sunday in Ordinary Time1st reading Nehemiah 8:2-6, 8-10; Psalm 19:8-10, 15; 2nd reading 1 Corinthians 12:12-30; Gospel Luke 1:1-4, 4:14-21.  In times of old men rejoiced in their guidance by the Law of God [Neh 8:11 & Ps 19:9] with Jesus came the Spirit [Lk 4:18] to fill us all [1 Cor 12:13] 

January 31  4th Sunday in Ordinary Time1st reading - Jeremiah 1:4-5, 17-19; Psalm 71:1-6, 15, 17; 2nd reading 1 Corinthians 12:31-13:13; Gospel Luke 4:21-30;  The prophet is seldom honored [Lk  4:24] and his teaching is resisted [Jer 1:19], yet he trusts in God [Ps 71:1] and exercises his gift with Love [1 Cor 13:1-3]
